Halloween season is upon us, and students of Vashon Island High School are dressing up in many different types of costumes. Whether students decide to dress up or not, there are a multitude of costume ideas students are coming up with.

“I'm gonna be Phineas from Phineas and Ferb,” Junior Nolan Castro said.

Every student has different ideas in their heads about what they want to dress up as for Halloween. Some might think it’s more fun to just observe the costumes and not participate in dressing for the occasion. The more students that dress up for the holiday, the more fun and exciting it is to see the school spirit classmates and staff have.

“I'm being a leopard or a cheetah,” Junior Bella Polo Bunch said “I want people to think I look cute and not scary.”

Some people might agree with Polo Bunch about choosing to be cute rather than scary. Some might disagree and not worry or care about what people think about them on Halloween and just want to have fun dressing up with friends.

“Group costumes are more creative and you can do more costumes,” Freshman Gloria Erickson Said.

Many of the students at VHS prefer to dress up for Halloween as a group or twinning costumes. Twinning costumes can be fun and exciting to see and experience at school on Halloween. Everyone is invited to participate in dressing up whether you are dressing up alone or as a group costume with your friends.

“I chose to do Shrek because he is just an icon and a pretty awesome dude,” Junior Oscar Cobbmaigetter said.

There are different ways of choosing what to wear for the holiday. Some might have the same opinion as Cobbmaigetter when it comes to choosing a costume.

Costumes don’t have to be expensive and bought from stores. You can even reuse old costumes from previous years.

“It’s like 50 dollars for a blow up sponge bob costume,” Freshman Harrison Decker said.

People can spend as much money as they want on their costumes or none at all.

“It’s mostly just stuff that I have,” Sophomore Sophia Cagle said.

Using things from your home is a great way to not spend money and still have school spirit for the holidays. Many costumes can be made from home like Cagle is doing. Costumes from home add fun spins on the holiday spirit.

No matter how people celebrate the holiday it's still fun for everyone. Halloween is super exciting for everyone and lets people express themselves however they choose to.
