An Update to VHS Cheer

This fall, two different VHS cheer coaches quit, which temporarily left the team coachless and distraught. Without leadership, the team wasn’t allowed to practice after school or perform at football games. For the senior cheerleaders, this was a devastating setback because it’s their last season to participate in the sport they love. At the start of the season, their first coach went on a three week trip and resigned soon after returning. The cheer squad then got a new coach

The Art of Civil Discourse

In a time when national debates can turn violent, and people shout more than listen, it seems like the art of civil discourse is fading fast. However, here within the Vashon Island School District, efforts are being made to keep meaningful discussions alive. Our classrooms shouldn't just be places to learn math or science; they should also teach us to think critically, listen respectfully, and speak thoughtfully.
