After Grammy nominated Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny was announced as this year's half time performer, people took to social media to share their strong feelings but many went as far as creating petitions to get a different performer for the 2026 halftime show, which were denied by the NFL maintaining their firm decision. Bad Bunny was considered a very controversial choice because he is a Latino Artist that has repeatedly spoken out about the various laws and things President Trump has placed and spoken about causing opposition against him.

“Clearly Bad Bunny’s beliefs and identity are going to ruffle some small minded people’s feathers,” Freshman Henry Burke said.

Bad Bunny has shared that he does not stand with the things that our president has done during his term so far like the immigration laws and how these laws have affected many immigrant families. In his NUEVAYoL music video he used an AI generated voice track of President Trump apologizing to the Latino community. Along with deciding not to do a US tour after releasing his latest album DeBI TiRAR MaS FOToS, he did a 30 night residency in Puerto Rico and announced tour dates for Latin America, Europe, and Asia. The exclusion of the US was obvious and left many fans disappointed. He later shared in an interview that after a long time considering and speaking with his team, they decided to skip touring in the US in fears of ICE raids occurring outside of his concerts.

“A lot of the people that are hating on Bad Bunny are usually the people who support deportation and ice raids which is very telling with how they try to paint Bad Bunny as a bad choice for the halftime show,” Sophomore Maggie Thornton stated.

Although he has received hate, there were other people who were very happy he is the halftime performer. These people are excited about how he will share his opinions and stand up for people affected by what is happening in the world. Especially the fans who were left wishing they could see him perform in the US felt disappointed.

“I am excited for Bad Bunny to perform because it's going to be so lit and tuff! And I hope he sings Safaera," Sophomore Letta Polo-Bunch said.

Many are excited to see if he pushes any boundaries and how he will bring the Latino culture and community into his performance, since he has been known to be a brilliant performer, and truly finds ways to express his love for the Latino culture and his fans.

I'm so excited because Bad Bunny is a really good singer and I'm sure he's going to do great at the Super Bowl! I can't wait!!!” Sophomore Carmen Sanchez exclaimed.

Although there were many people that were strongly against having Bad Bunny as the superbowl halftime performer it seems that there are equally or even more of his fans waiting to see his performance on such an important sport event watched by many.
