Upcoming Movies: Worth Your Time or Not?

Movies are a great way to hang out with family and friends. New movies are constantly coming out, and people always have so many opinions. There are some really exciting movies coming out this year, and that is going to bring a lot of mixed feelings.

Recently, movies that have been big hits have been coming out with sequels. A noteworthy sequel is Zootopia 2. Kids that are in high school and middle school are especially excited about this one because it was a part of a lot of their childhoods. 

“The animation was good, and it was a good story line.” freshman Anna Wiley stated.

Kids love the movie Zootopia, and a second movie will bring a whole new meaning to the movie by adding new characters, feelings, and plot. Though there could be some mixed feelings about it. Some sequels ruin the first movies, and that could be a worry for people, but it seems like this movie is a great one to go see. 

Students at VHS  are also looking forward to the new Avatar movie. Though there were supposed to be way more Avatar movies out by now, there are two, and the third is on its way. This movie series was planned to have more movies out by now, but so far the first and second one have been rated about the same and pretty well, so people can only hope the third one is close to being as good.

Wicked: For Good is another popular new movie, making 150M domestic and 220M globally.. Wicked: for Good is supposed to be one of the best movies of the year, but it has brought up a lot of mixed feelings. Seeing as this movie is supposed to be one of the biggest movies this year, you would think people would like it a lot more, but that's not the case. 

“It was terrible. It’s so boring and it's not as good as the first one,” Freshman Amelie Weigner stated. 

Maybe the songs could be better or the writing of the movie could improve, but it just doesn't seem like a crowd pleaser, which is sad because the first one was a great movie.

Horror fans are looking forward to  Scream 7.. Scream 7 is coming out in February, and there are things people are excited about and maybe a little worried too. 

“I am excited to see more of Sydney as a character, but other wise, I think the scream franchise is getting milked a bit. Screams obviously a classic though so I can't blame them.” Freshman Michelle Samson.

There have been so many scream movies and even though some of them are not fan favorites, this will hopefully be a good movie that horror lovers will love.

Whether you're watching a movie in the theatre or waiting until it comes out to your TV, seeing new movies is always exciting. Even if the movie isn't your favorite or not that great, it's still a fun experience. Movies are always a great way to get out of the house and the vashon theatre is playing pretty good ones. They are playing Zootopia 2 and then they open the doors for Avatar in January. If you don't know what you are gonna get out of the movie it's even better.
